Bryce Harper first appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated at age 15, started playing college ball at 17, and was the youngest player to make the MLB All-Star Game last year at 19. In other words, we shouldn’t be that surprised that the dude can play ball. But Harper’s performance on Opening Day—hitting homers in his first two at bats—gives fans a taste of what the young slugger is capable of. As of now he’s on track for 324 home runs, which is probably a reach, but the major’s first 50-50 season (which one scout predicts for the Washington left-fielder) doesn’t seem all that far out of the realm of possibility. In the meantime, let’s all just enjoy his swing, which is truly a thing of beauty.
