How did you get into Big Buck Hunter in the first place?

I was at a bar, and my teammate Dave Mirra started hustling me. By the end of the night, I was down almost $4,000, so I went home and bought my own machine.

You pull death-defying stunts. What is it about a video game with a plastic gun that you find so exciting?

I’m hurt a lot, so I need something to do when I’m at home and can’t compete. I can play with a broken wrist. It relieves tension!

How do you train?

We’ll get a hunting party together and invite 15 to 20 people over to watch football and NASCAR and play some Big Buck. We’ll play from 10 a.m. until 2 a.m. the next day. It’s a good time.

How did you do at the Big Buck world championships?

It’s amazing how serious it got. I went to Chicago and was like, “Shit, I don’t wanna be out in the first round.” I placed eighth in the world in Big Buck Pro and 10th in Safari.

What were the other competitors like?

Everyone had their own technique. Some of these guys practice so much drunk that they’re used

to playing that way. I don’t know how some of them were still standing.

Have you ever been injured from playing too much?

Yes. Tendinitis in your trigger finger is a bitch! I needed a masseuse—and some Icy Hot. They’ve got to start treating this like an athletic event!
