The Trailer for Charlie Kaufman’s Stop-Motion Anomalisa Is Like Nothing You’ve Ever Seen

It’s an R-rated animated film that tackles life’s big questions.

The trailer for Charlie Kaufman‘s Anomalisa is here, and it looks pretty spectacular.

The stop-motion animated film is told through the POV of a middle-aged man (voiced by David Thewlis) who seems rather depressed, but not in a totally apathetic way — he’s still turned on by questions about the human condition. The trailer is striking for a number of reasons but one particularly curiosity is the shift in tone at the end; still, who knows from where in the film that footage came. That Charlie Kaufman, always trying to mess with us.

Anomalisa has been in development since 2012, and raised nearly half a million dollars on Kickstarter. The film will have a limited release on December 30, just in time for us to make some New Year’s resolutions.
