The Coen Brothers have gone meta for their upcoming movie-within-a-movie comedy — and half of Hollywood is in it.
Hail, Ceasar!stars George Clooney as the ridiculously named Baird Whitlock, the lead in a old Hollywood production who is kidnapped for ransom by a communist group who call themselves "The Future." Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin) is a studio fixer who has to scrape up the cash without tipping off the press about Whitlock's sudden disappearance. Scarlett Johansson plays a starlet with a secret of her own, and she's joined by Jonah Hill, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, and Coen Brothers novice Channing Tatum as some kind of dancing sailor. This is peak Coen Brothers, guys, and we wish we didn't have to wait until February to see it.
