College Vs. Pro Games of the Week: April 14, 2011

Nothing says spring like baseball and…bowling?

Nothing says spring like baseball and…bowling?

College: National Collegiate Women’s Bowling (Final!)

Date: Sunday, 2:30PM EST, ESPN

Who Will Win and Why: From April 14 to 16, an eight-team field of bowling babes (Maxim in no way guarantees “babes” at this event) will battle, double elimination tournament style. On the 17th, yeah, shit gets real: the championship. For all the…pins, we guess? Who wants it more, Arkansas State or Vanderbilt? Maryland-Eastern Shore or Kutztown? Will All-Tournament Fairleigh Dickinson stars Danielle McEwan and Meghan Kelly continue their dominance? These questions and many more to go completely unanswered by us! So we’ll just pick Dickinson. Why? Because they offer a class in “Responding to weapons of mass destruction”. Badass.

Pro: Texas Vs. New York Yankees

Date: Sunday, 8:00PM EST, ESPN

Who Will Win and Why: Rattled from a thrashing in Boston this past weekend, the Yankees are reeling. Derek Jeter’s already abandoned a vaunted new batting style, and Jorge Posada—after a hot start—is rapidly cooling. Meanwhile, Texas is destroying the AL West, leading the league in every meaningful pitching stat (WHIP, ERA, quality starts…) and team slugging percentage. We can’t see the Yankees overcoming an en fuego Texas team. But we’re legally blind thanks to a terrible cheese accident, so we can’t really “see” anything.

If You Have to Watch One:
Pointless early season baseball or coeds bowling their innocent hearts out—do we even have to state the obvious here?
