Hey, guys, it’s Dan. If you, like me, grew up on Long Island in the ’80s, you owned two things: (1) a mullet, and (2) a Mike Bossy stick. I had both, so when Islanders HQ tweeted, “We dare you to come to the game tonight, bring your skates,” I was on the LIRR faster than you can say, “Oh, my gawd!”

I arrived expecting to be greeted by equipment manager Scott “Boggsy” Boggs but instead was met by a much lovelier staffer—Linda Beach, coach of the legendary Ice Girls squad. And she was holding a skirt. For me.

The dare: During the Canadiens-Isles game, in front of everyone in the 18,000-seat Nassau Coliseum, be the 11th Ice Girl. I accepted way too quickly and skirted up. I learned a few things that night. First, the Ice Girls are as sweet and stunning as they are hardworking. Second, shooting a T-shirt gun is 1,000 times more fun than you could ever imagine. And third, that guy in Section 117 was right: I do have a gorgeous set of gams!
