‘The Dark Knight’ Is Coming to Imax to Celebrate the Movie’s 10th Anniversary

This will be epic.

Believe it or not, The Dark Knight is 10 this year. The good news: The movie that gave us one of the best DC Universe dramas and the genius of Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker is coming back to theaters in an epic way.

An exclusive report from Variety revealed Friday that the bad news for some is that the movie is returning in August to just “four select Imax theaters.”

Unfortunately, “select” really means “select.” Variety reports the venues are “in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Toronto.”

The movie was shot on Imax cameras, so in a sense, the audience will be watching the story of Ledger’s Joker menacing Gotham City in its natural visual element.

Dark Knight‘s week-long run begins Aug. 24.
