Louisiana lightweight Mason Menard clobbered his opponent with a brain-scrambling punch that's being called a top contender for boxing's knockout of the year.
The little-known Menard put opponent Eudy Bernardo to sleep with a hard right hand in the third round on Shobox: The New Generation on Saturday night. The Dominican fighter was unconscious before he even hit the canvas.
Bernardo was carried out of the Verona, New York ring on a stretcher and rushed to a nearby hospital. Bloody Elbow reports that the fight's promoter—and former 140-pound title challenger—Dimitry Salita said Bernardo was examined and later released.
We certainly hope he's OK, but Bernardo might want to reconsider his chosen profession after being on the wrong end of this highlight reel-worthy annihilation.
