DSK Gets The Hollywood Sex Treatment in Welcome to New York

Being the director of the International Monetary Fund never looked like so much fun.

The US trailer for Abel Ferrara’s Welcome to New York (which bears zero resemblance to the Taylor Swift song of the same name) dropped, and it’s easy to see why the 2014 film has rattled so many. The movie, about a French economist and aspiring politician — “Mr. Devereaux” (Gérard Depardieu) — is a barely fictional retelling of Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s lascivious tastes and alleged 2011 sexual assault of a hotel maid. Welcome to New York wasn’t picked up for distribution in France, and Strauss-Kahn’s camp is furious — but when you make claims that you “rarely” attended sex parties because you were “saving the world,” you’ve got to expect someone’s going to want to make a film about your life.
