Emily Ratajkowski Just Sold Her New Book For Seven Figures
The follow-up to her 2021 essay collection “My Body” is a deeply personal reflection on dating as a single mom in New York City.

Emily Ratajkowski’s literary stage just got a second chapter. The supermodel, entrepreneur, and New York Times bestselling author of 2021’s My Body signed a seven-figure deal with Penguin Press for her next book, Mother F*cker. The exact amount hasn’t been confirmed, but according to Deadline, the publisher was one of 12 engaged in a fierce bidding war to acquire the production and distribution rights.
The book has been described briefly as “an examination of modern female identity through her experiences as a newly single mother on the dating scene in New York City,” but readers expecting a superficially salacious tell-all about EmRata’s conquests may be disappointed.
In her Mother F*cker essay published by New York magazine, Ratajkowski offers several intimate accounts about her romantic experiences that are frequently tinged with sardonic humor. For instance, she chronicles a first date with a person she’d seen on Instagram but describes as “a walking, talking Myspace page: bright hoodies, obnoxious gold jewelry, with a preference for passé hipster bars like the one he’d chosen… Conversation flowed easily as I positioned myself as Elder Millennial’s guide to the city, telling him where to drink and eat. I’m pretty sure he called himself a foodie, but I can’t be certain, since when the term was uttered I disassociated completely.”
These anecdotes are contextualized within a deeply personal account of a reeling postpartum dating life rife filled extremely disappointing potential suitors. Throughout, she reflects on the choices she made during this time period—which occurred shortly after she divorced the father of her son—and theorizes about why those choices were made. Details about the Mother F*cker book’s release are forthcoming, but head to New York‘s website to get a taste of what to expect via the essay of the same title.
