Hell Yes, Fast and Furious Is Getting a Bunch of Spinoff Movies

Apparently there’s no such thing as one last ride.

One day, when I am an old wizened crone laying in a chaise lounge being fanned by my various hunky man servants, there is one thing I’m certain of: I will hear news of a Fast and the Furious sequel. By that time it’ll be Fast and Furious 291: Cars Can Fly Now or Fast and Furious 294: Holy Shit, This Rest Stop Has Great Snacks and Vin Diesel will be nothing more than a beefy hologram, but the franchise will persist.

How do I know this? Well, I don’t. I can’t predict the future. But what I do know for certain is that we’re getting more Fast and Furious movies right now.

After Vin Diesel recently announced a final trilogy to close out the saga, Variety reports that several Fast and Furious spinoffs are in the works.

“We’ve written out story lines for various characters,” Diesel said to Variety. “We’ve been playing with it for a long time. It’s a very rich property and we’re committed to treating it with a lot of class.”

Universal Pictures Chairman Donna Langley confirmed they were working on further films, saying, “We’re certainly in conversations about how we can expand the franchise now. It’s an ensemble cast and there’s room to bring characters in and out.”

There’s no news as to which specific characters will get spinoffs, but as Variety noted, Dwayne Johnson has said before that he’d like to see his character, Luke Hobbs, go off on his own.

Regardless of who gets their own series, I’m definitely looking forward to Fast and Furious 267: Damn, This Air Freshener Smells Good.
