In the 8th Fast & Furious film, The Fate of the Furious, things are more serious than ever. That's the takeaway from the action flick's explosive trailer, which was unveiled Sunday. The unusual disunity in the "family" that's at the core of Vin Diesel's action franchise is underscored by the movie poster, which was also released.
It's hard to not conclude that The Rock was cleverly telegraphing the movie's themes when he began a "feud" with Diesel after the film wrapped earlier in 2016.
Charlize Theron is featured heavily in the trailer as well. She plays Cipher — the film's villain — and it appears part of her plan is play Yoko Ono to Luke Hobbs's (Johnson) and Dom Toretto's (Diesel) Paul and John.
The trailer also includes bits of action set pieces that look fantastic, including tanks and snowmobiles. It's straight-up spy film stuff and it's hard to not get extremely hyped for the full blast.
Fellow cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Kurt Russell, Jason Statham, Elsa Pataky, and Nathalie Emmanuel join Johnson, Diesel, and Theron for the fun when the film crashes into theaters on April 14, 2017.
