Game 5 Sharks vs. Kings: It’s On, Bitches!
With the series tied 2-2, Kings left winger Dustin Penner talks about cold showers, the general suckiness of Long Island, and his blood-lust for anyone wearing teal.

In game 4 against the Sharks, you had a no-goal ruling in the second period you didn’t seem happy about. Still pissed?
You get over those things. They have a funny way of working themselves out. You get a bounce-back from the hockey gods eventually.
Any pre-game rituals you do to appease the hockey Gods?
Nothing too quirky. I jump in a cold tub before every game.
To get you all angry and irritated?
No, just to shock the system. It contracts blood vessels, gives you fresh legs. I don’t know if it really works or just tricks your brain into thinking you feel like you have fresh legs, but I do it.
This has been a series where home games really seem to have made the difference.
We lean on our fans. I love our fans. They give us so much support and are really hard on opposing teams.
So you guys can actually hear people in the stands screaming, “You suck!” and things like that when you are on the ice?
You don’t really hear individual things, but you hear boos, you hear the excitement when a play is developing, it gives you energy.
What is your favorite and least favorite away rink?
I like playing in Chicago, great fans, great arena. Long Island is horrible.
I’m from Long Island and I whole-heartedly agree. You go to see any of those other teams that play at the Staples Center?
Yes, I’ve gone to Lakers games, Clippers games. There’s a club inside the Staples Center called Hyde. That’s always a good time. You can hang out, take in a game.
A lot of beautiful people in Hyde?
Yes, there could be some scenery that’ll distract you from the game!
So speaking of the game, you have game 5 tonight. Any Sharks you are particularly looking forward to drilling into the glass?
All I’ll say is that anybody wearing teal should be on the lookout for anyone wearing black.
