Gisele Bündchen Will Hand Out The World Cup Trophy

As if the teams needed more motivation…

With the World Cup in full swing and the entire world glued to television screens all over the world, fans and fútbol players now have one more reason to be excited. It was announced this week that Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen will hand out the World Cup trophy to the winners following the final match. She is not the only Victoria’s Secret Angel and Brazilian beauty to participate in the World Cup excitement; Adriana Lima is doing her part to convert American sports fans into fútbol fans.

FIFA reportedly asked Bündchen to present the trophy instead of Brazil’s President, DilmaRousseff. According to The Boston Globe, the change was made out of concern that having Rousseff do the honors would incite even more backlash from locals, who are already upset over the government’s expenditure of $11B in public funds for the sporting event. Bündchen was chosen in an effort to alleviate some of the negativity surrounding the games. We expect this will be a win-win for everyone.
