Help SyFy Name the Sequel to “Sharknado,” If You Dare!
A sequel to the social-media smash TV movie was inevitable…but what will it be called?

When Sharknadopremiered on the SyFy channel last week, it was an unmitigatedsocial media hit. Apparently, the American public very much enjoyed tweeting and Facebooking about the story of a freak weather event that brings nature’s deadliest ocean-dwelling killers raining down on the citizens of Los Angeles. (The fact that it marked former Maxim cover girl Tara Reid’s comeback and featured chainsaw-wielding ex-90210-er Ian Ziering probably didn’t hurt either.) As SyFy exec Thomas Vitale put it earlier today, “Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm—on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel.” Another Sharknado? Fantastic! And the best part is, SyFy is holding a contest for the name of the flick. To participate, just tweet your suggested subtitle for Sharknado 2: ______ to @SyfyMovies using the #Sharknado hashtag. SyFy will then select the best (or is that worst?) submission. As for what the sequel will be about, Vitale would only say this: “What we can guarantee is that Sharknado 2 will be lots of fun. We’ll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn’t want our fans to worry they wouldn’t get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year.” If the network suit is making terrible puns like that, you know it’s gonna be good!
