House of Cards Appears on Netflix, Disappears in a Puff of Its Own Hype

Was it a genius marketing ploy or is someone getting fired?

For a precious ten minutes, it appeared as if Netflix had pulled a Beyoncé: House of Cards Season 3 was suddenly available for streaming two weeks before its official release date. Plans were collectively canceled as binge-watching became America’s top priority.

Then, as soon as the episodes were up, they we’re gone, leaving nothing but a shadow of a memory of a glimmer of hope. Was it a genius marketing ploy to drum up hype? Was it a plan hatched from the brain of someone as cunning as Frank Underwood? Is there a mole at Netflix?

Or did someone just totally screw this one up?

Regardless, we’re ready for February 27th.
