Claire Underwood Delivers a Subliminal Message in Freaky New ‘House of Cards’ Trailer

She’s in our heads!

The official House of Cards Twitter account just dropped a new trailer for the political drama’s fifth season that features the first lady and vice presidential nominee giving an unsettling PSA.

“It’s terrifying, isn’t it?” the clip begins without actually addressing what “it” is. “The President and I have a simple request. If anything in your environment strikes you as a bit odd… pick up the phone.” 

Audiences will recall that at the end of the last season, Frank and Claire had decided to use fear tactics to sway the American voters. This teaser certainly seems to indicate they’ll be sticking with that strategy. 

It even includes weird flashes of subliminal images that appear to show Claire in a more regal, dominant position with regard to the camera angle. 

“My husband and I want to protect you,” the message concludes. “We’re going to need to watch out for each other, and yes, watch each other.” 

We’ll have to see what the Underwoods have planned when the new season drops May 30 on Netflix.
