Watch: Alien Invaders Are Back In Newest ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ Trailer

A new TV spot for Independence Day: Resurgence aired this weekend, revealing some of the star-studded returning cast (except for Will Smith‘s character, RIP), some newcomers, and a very close encounter with an unfriendly invader.
Jeff Goldblum is back as a nerdy, gobsmacked satellite expert who greets the resurgence of alien invaders with helpful wide-eyed stares and “oh my God.” Bill Pullman, who played the President of the United States in the Roland Emmerich’s 1996 original, also returns, presumably as an ex-president unless term limits have been extended in this fictional universe. We also see more of new cast member Liam Hemsworth and Maika Monroe, who plays Pullman’s daughter. No sign of additional newcomers Charlotte Gainsbourg and Sela Ward, but no doubt there will be plenty more trailers throughout the spring.
Independence Day: Resurgence opens June 24.
