After Logan, Hugh Jackman was done with Wolverine. That would naturally eliminate the possibility he might show up in Deadpool 2 in spite of his bromance with Ryan Reynolds—or at least it seemed that way until recently, when screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about their new sci-fi thriller, Life.
Hit with the idea of Jackman appearing somehow in Deadpool, perhaps in a cameo as, well, Hugh Jackman, neither writer rejected it out of hand. Rhett Reese said, "Oh my gosh, that's one we haven't heard."
"That's not a bad idea," he continued, "I like that. Deadpool lives in a world where Hugh Jackman is out there. He's got the People's Sexiest Man Alive cover that he staples to his forehead in the first movie, so maybe he could meet Hugh as Hugh. That would be really funny."
It actually would be pretty fun, but then again it might really confuse things in the elaborately interconnected Marvel Universe, which saw two members of the X-Men helping the merc with the mouth anyway.
Whatever happens, we've got to wait till 2018 to see the movie. That's plenty of time to get Hugh on board, so let's keep our fingers crossed.
