Yep, we're all tired of network cop dramas and it's not very encouraging that NBC couldn't come up with a title that doesn't immediately recall yet another network cop drama. But this one has a promising twist: J. Lo's character is a Brooklyn detective who, along with her partners, has a habit pushing the envelope of the law. When the FBI catches up to her latest rule-breaking plan, she is forced to turn informant against her partners. One of these partners is Drea de Matteo, who famously played a reluctant informant herself in The Sopranos.Ray Liotta (Goodfellas, Hannibal) rounds out the impressive cast as Lt. Matt Wozniak.
Lopez, who is a judge on American Idol, last appeared as a scripted series regular on the forgotten 1994 drama Hotel Malibu, but no one will ever forget her as a Fly Girl on In Living Color.
Shades of Blue will get a two-hour premiere on Sunday, January 14. We'll be watching!
