Katy Perry Is the Highest Paid Woman in Music
Sorry, Taylor Swift, check your balance…
Not too long ago we dropped the info bomb that apparently Taylor Swift makes one million dollars a day, (more than Drake, Diddy, and Jay Z combined). That’s a lot of damn money, but Tay Tay didn’t get to stay queen of the bank account for very long because Forbes just named Katy Perry as the highest-earning woman in music right now.
The combination of her world tour, hit singles, and endorsement packages raked in $135 million for this singer this year, millions more (by a lot) than the rest of the women on the list. Taylor Swift came in at second place, having earned $80 million this past year. Fleetwood Mac takes the third place slot with 59.5 million, which you can only presume Stevie Nicks took the lion’s share of.
“I am proud of my position as a boss, as a person that runs my own company,” Perry told Forbes. “I’m an entrepreneur…I don’t want to shy away from it. I actually want to kind of grab it by its balls.”
In the worlds of these mega-stars, $135 million isn’t that far off from $80 million. Maybe Taylor Swift just needs to check the pockets of her jeans and ask for a re-count.
