John Wick 2 Starts Shooting This Fall

Keanu’s keeping busy to take his mind off the Point Break reboot he’s not in.

John Wick 2, the tentatively-titled sequel to the 2014 revenge thriller, is set to start shooting this fall, with Keanu Reeves back as a retired assassin bent on revenge.

The original John Wickwas a sleeper success: It made nearly $80 million on a $20 million budget, and was a hit with critics. In the first film, Wick went after the Russian gangsters who stole his car and killed his dog, a gift from his recently deceased wife. No word yet on the plot of the sequel, which will be co-directed by Chad Stahelski and David Leitch.

“With such tremendous fan and critical support for John Wick, we knew that there was still so much more of this story to tell,” Lionsgate’s President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions said in a statement this spring announcing the sequel. “We are thrilled that Keanu, David and Chad have re-teamed with us and promise to bring audiences even more excitement the second time around.”

Here’s a fun bit of trivia: Stahelski and Leitch worked as stunt doubles in The Matrix series.
