Meet Colin Jost, SNL’s New Weekend Update Anchor

He’ll transition from the writers’ room in March.

With Seth Meyers poised to make the transition from SNL to Late Night next month, no one everyone’s been wondering who would be taking his place at the Weekend Update desk alongside newcomer Cecily Strong. Well, wonder no more: It was announced yesterday that the show’s head writer Colin Jost will make the jump to on-camera talent come March, following in the footsteps of Meyers and Tina Fey, both of whom held the title of Head Writer before transitioning to Update.

Jost joined the show as a writer in 2005 at the age of 22 right out of college – and not just some garbage college, but Harvard, where he served as president of the school’s famous humor publication, the Harvard Lampoon. In addition to his duties at SNL, Jost is a successful comedian who recently performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon:

And did we mention that his girlfriend is Rashida Jones? So, congratulations, Colin. And cheer up – maybe things will start going your way soon
