23-time gold medal Olympian Michael Phelps is known to use whatever it takes to get in the zone before big competitions (including a horrific Chad Le Clos-inspired stank face), so it only makes sense that his Lip Sync Battle appearance had him performing one of the motivating songs ever: Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.”

Hood up, mic ready, Phelps made his way around the stage during his rendition of the infamous 8 Mile track, laying the all-star lineup of other featured celebrities (including Olivia Munn and John Legend) to waste. 

Since Phelps claims that he’s retiring from swimming, perhaps he has a future battle rapping in empty warehouses in Detroit.
