At last, a teaser trailer has arrived, and it looks to follow the physiological horror format for which the director is best known.
"A couple's relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence," the film's synopsis reads. "Mother! stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer in this riveting psychological thriller about love, devotion and sacrifice."
The trailer shows star Jennifer Lawrence wondering around her country estate, with freaky dialogue playing over the tranquil image.
"You're insane!" Lawrence screams. "Murderer!"
Quickly, the trailer flashes images of complete horror—J-Law and Javier Bardem screaming bloody murder, Michelle Pfeiffer in bed with some creep and blazing fire.
"God help you," Pfeiffer warns in a chilling voiceover.
More details will come on August 8, when Paramount Pictures debuts the first full-length trailer.
The film will screen in competition at the Venice Film Festival and will have its North American debut at the Toronto Film Festival.
Mother! hits theaters on September 15.
