NBC Just Ordered a Pilot From Adam Levine

The untitled reality series is based on the Maroon 5 Video “Sugar.”

When one door closes, another door opens.

Just two weeks after NBC pulled the plug on The Voice coach Adam Levine’s scripted series-in-progress The 1970s, the network has ordered a reality pilot based on the popular Maroon 5 music video Sugar, in which the band makes “surprise” appearances at the weddings of regular folk all over Los Angeles. Wedding Crashersdirector David Dobkin directed the video and will also direct the pilot.

The yet-untitled series will be based on the Sugar video’s premise of celebrities showing up to surprise superfans at milestone events. No details yet on which celebrities will be involved, but based on Hollywood Reporter and Deadline reports, it appears as though many of the events will be wedding-related.

Check out the video for Sugar, which you might like even if you hate Adam Levine. Nearly 800 million YouTube viewers can’t be wrong! Right?
