Neil Young & Jack White Make Music History on “The Tonight Show”
Two rock legends came together to jam out and make some instant-press vinyl.
Last night on The Tonight Show, legendary rock star Neil Young dropped by along with fellow rocker Jack White to cut an instant vinyl record in front of a live studio audience.
Promoting the reissue of his covers LP A Letter Home – which was previously released in April through White’s Third Man Records label – Young stepped into the same 1947 Voice-O-Graph vinyl recording booth he used to record his own album, to sing Willie Nelson’s 1961 hit “Crazy.” During the epic cover Jack White instantly pressed the song into a 7-inch vinyl record. And the music Gods cried with glory.
Later in the taping Young returned to the booth equipped with a piano and performed “Since I Met You Baby,” a song originally executed by R&B singer Ivory Joe Hunter in 1956. That didn’t air during The Tonight Show but was posted online. To say it was awesome would be a total understatement. Check out the video below and judge for yourself.
