There Is Only One Indiana Jones: Harrison Ford

Chris Pratt will have to pry the sequel script of out Ford’s cold, dead hands.

Chris Pratt may be be invited to join the next installment of Indiana Jones in some capacity, but only one man will wear the signature crushable fedora.

Speaking to Total FilmIndiana Jonesexecutive producer Frank Marshall said there were no plans to recast Harrison Ford as the intrepid scholar-adventurer.

Though details of a future Indiana Jones film are still yet to be worked out, Marshall said they would “not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones.”

Much like Idris Elba was nominated by the internet to become the next James Bond after Daniel Craig hangs up his tux, Pratt has been the popular speculative choice for a potential Indiana Jones recast. Perhaps instead, the producers can introduce a new character who could extend the franchise.

“There are a lot of rumors,” Marshall said of the recasting chatter. “We haven’t even sat down to talk about Indy yet…at some point we’ll sit down. But there’s a bunch of people who could probably take the baton” of the franchise.

But don’t expect to see another Indiana Jones sequel anytime too soon.

“When it will happen, I’m not quite sure,” Marshall said. “We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.”

That’s cool, we’ll wait!
