The Trailer for the ‘Pete’s Dragon’ Reboot Is Here and Damn, Where Did Our Childhoods Go?

Do we really need a reboot of the 1977 animated-live action hybrid children’s t classic Pete’s Dragon? Maybe. We didn’t think we did, but the new trailer is quickly changing our minds.

This version appears to be preserving the original plot: A young runaway orphan lives in the forest with his best friend, a dragon, who primarily stays out of view when not with his companion. 

Robert Redford and Bryce Dallas Howard star as the father-daughter team who take an interest in young Pete. The dragon himself, Elliot, is created with CGI. Pete’s Dragon opens in August 2017.
