The French indie-pop maestros are back, and catchier than the clap.

Few bands have unlocked the secrets of the pop song as successfully as Phoenix, the Versailles-based, Grammy-winning indie-rockers who insist on making us reconsider the proposition that everything French sucks. With Bankrupt!—their fifth LP, and one of the year’s most highly-anticipated releases—due out April 22, the four-piece are giving fans a sneak preview with “Entertainment,” a sunny slice of synth-rock. The band recorded the album using the same mixing console Michael Jackson used for Thriller (they bought it off eBay for $17,000), and it seems like that was a good investment.
