Playing with Jessie and the Toy Boys

She’s hot. She’s talented. She’s the reason we’re writing Hasbro on our pants.

Jessie and the Toy Boys (a.k.a. Jessie Malakouti), is the best thing to happen to pop music since we threw out the Justin Beiber issue of Rolling Stone. But this firecracker of pop is more than just a singer. She’s also a songwriter and is well-versed in the world of dance music. And did we mention she’s hot? Click here to see her Maxim gallery, and check out her video for “Let’s Get Naughty.” We dare you to not fall in love.

The lovely Jessie was kind enough to chat with us about her career, lyrics and sexy style.

The Video Had to Be Sexy

Jessie: The song’s called “Let’s Get Naughty.” You have to show that, or you’re a poser. I made the video because my fans on tour would freak out when I performed that song live. Every night I would go home and get all these tweets asking, “What was that song about ‘All my hoes touch your toes’?” Everyone was asking about it. So we made the video. It’s not an official single or anything. It was just fun.

The Lyric “All My Hoes Touch Your Toes” Isn’t About Gardening

It’s so funny when people say, “OMG. That is the most slutty song I have ever heard.” Really? Give me a break. It’s pop music. It’s all tongue-in-cheek. It’s fun. I came up with the line as a joke. We were doing ad-libs in the studio and the producers were like, “That’s brilliant!” And I said, “Really?”

The Gritty Side of Pop

We shot half of the video in Cleveland when I was on the road with Britney Spears. I had never been to Cleveland before. We sort of broke into a subway station when it was closed and we shot in there. It came out very cool.

What Is She Wearing Right Now

I’m wearing jean cutoff shorts, a Minor Threat T-shirt and pink heels. I like T-shirts and I like to wear things that are comfortable but still sexy.

America Was Clueless Back in 2008

A lot of things are right with pop music now. Dance is back in such a big way. But it wasn’t always that way. I’m a California girl, but in 2008 I was trying to put dance records out and everybody in America passed. It wasn’t happening. I moved to the UK and lived in London from 2008 to 2010 and put out underground dance records. I stopped paying attention to what was happening in America, but these awesome artists were starting to emerge. I think Lady Gaga is incredible. She brought pop music back to the United States in a big way. The kind of music I was making for a while was suddenly back in America. So it was time to come home.

What’s Wrong With Music?

The only thing bugs me is that you only hear the same five songs on the radio. But that’s what so cool about the the Internet and YouTube. There are new ways to discover people.

Describe Your Music as a Flavor

Sour cherry punch. It’s a little sour, it’s a little sweet and it’ll slap you in the face a bit.

We’re Heading to Toys R Us Right Now

My ultimate plan is to have action figures. I want to write an animated series around Jessie and the Toy Boys.

We Totally Know What She Means

What’s the naughtiest thing I’ve done this week? That’s a tough question. I don’t really want to say, so I’ll say it in code: Ninja squirrels flying.

Check out the official Jessie and the Toy Boys website. And follow Jessie on Twitter. You will not regret it.
