Watch the Gory First Trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
The parody butchers the classic Jane Austen novel.
I remember first seeing people reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies on the subway a few years back, and I was lost and confused about what was happening. I still am, but the book was such a hit that Hollywood is making a movie out of it, and the trailer looks pretty fun.
At first, everything looks like your typical Jane Austen novel — members of polite society doing polite society things like waltzing and riding horses and having very good posture (when they are not riding horses) and staring longingly at a person of a lower socioeconomic standing across the ballroom — but then a zombie apocalypse of sorts comes to further complicate the already intolerable circumstances of young ladies with limited marriage prospects and no inheritance to speak of.
Lily James (Downton Abbey) plays Elizabeth Bennett and presumed lead zombie-slayer, and Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey co-stars as someone, it doesn’t say on IMDB. And there are a bunch of men with wavy brown hair and fancy British accents who all look and the sound the same.
