RIP Mr. Drummond

Conrad Bain, who played the dad on Diff’rent Strokes, has passed away. And, no, it wasn’t from a stroke, you jerk.

A piece of our childhood died earlier this week in the form of Conrad Bain, who played millionaire Philip Drummond from 1978 to 1985 on the NBC sitcom Diff’rent Strokes. (Come on everyone, let’s sing the theme song!) The show, about a rich white guy who adopts two black kids, is a huge part of pop culture, thanks to legendary catchphrases and the fact that stars Gary Coleman (dead), Dana Plato (dead), and Todd Bridges (recovering coke fiend) all had extremely difficult post-Strokes lives. So to celebrate the man and his work, here are clips from our very favorite episode. It involves a creepy child molester bike shop owner, two young boys, and was referenced in Family Guy. What more do you need?

Let us watch and mourn.
