Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” is Out Today. It’s About Time, Dude

Wait, you mean to tell us this album hasn’t been released until now? WTF?

Given the ubiquity of Robin Thicke’s inescapable, controversial, and really-pretty-awesome single “Blurred Lines,” it’s kind of amazing to realize that his album of the same name hasn’t been released until today. After all, it’s been four fucking months since that first single blew our minds! But maybe it’s a good business plan. “Blurred Lines” (the track, and the video, not the album. But, oh, the video. The video. We’ll get back to the video) is a leading contender for the unofficial title of Song of the Summer – a sexy, funky, blue-eyed piece of soul-pop candy.

Luckily for all concerned, the album itself is, well, the album we wish Justin Timberlake had released, evoking Marvin Gaye one track, early Prince the next, a little Chic here, some vintage Michael Jackson there. Did we mention that Robin Thicke’s dad was Mr. Seaver on Growing Pains (aka, one of the whitest TV characters in history)? No matter. With heavyweight producers like Pharrell, Timbaland, and Dr. Luke on board, the whole collection is a breezy, cocky, groovy, retro, soulful, dance-happy blast. It may not be rock & roll, but you’ll like it. And your girlfriend will dig it too.

But who are we kidding. This whole post is just an excuse to share the “Blurred Lines” video again. Featuring Pharrell and T.I., a white wall, some stuffed animals and mylar balloons, and a trio of scantily clad (or not-clad-at-all) models, it’s been viewed over 100 million times on YouTube. And that’s just the tame version.

But it’s really the NSFW work versionyou want to check out. Maybe over and over again. We won’t judge you. Just don’t do it at work. You’ve been warned. And…you’re welcome.
