There’s a New ‘RoboCop’ Movie Coming That Will Be a Direct Sequel to Original

One of the screenwriters of the original Robocop, which turned 30 last year, is developing a sequel, he revealed in a new interview.

Ed Neumeier told Zeitgeist Entertainment magazine that his script is/will be a direct sequel to the 1987 sci-fi classic, and it will ignore Robocop 2 and 3 as well as the widely-panned 2014 remake.

“There’s been a bunch of other RoboCop movies and there was recently a remake and I would say this would be kind of going back to the old RoboCop we all love and starting there and going forward,” Neumeier said.

“So it’s a continuation really of the first movie. In my mind. So it’s a little bit more of the old school thing.”

The magic of director Paul Verhoeven’s original, namely its biting satirical elements, were absent from the sequels, making them gross-out blood fests without much purpose.

With Neumeier back in a writing capacity, audiences can expect brains with their Robo-butchery.

For the sake of whichever actor would take on the role, we hope this Robo-suit has better ventilation this time.
