Ronda Rousey Reveals the One Man Who Makes Her ‘Lose It’

And why she admires Mike Tyson. 

Ronda Rousey probably doesn’t have a lot in common with your mom—one is an intimidating force of nature who’s seen you naked, the other is Ronda Rousey—but in a recent interview with Yahoo the 28-year-old UFC champ revealed that she shares at least one thing with the woman who birthed you: A crush on Harrison Ford. 

“I lose it around Harrison Ford,” she told Yahoo. “I was so obsessed with Star Wars. The first action movie I ever saw was Temple of Doom. Oh my God. Han Solo. I was in love with him for so long.”

Rousey and Ford have met and as she tells it, the encounter was uncomfortable for both them. “I was just staring at him,” she said. “And I kept looking at him and I’m saying to myself, ‘I’m blowing it. I’m blowing it.’ It’s an art, I’ve realized, to make people around you feel comfortable and that’s sort of what I’ve tried to learn to do.”

Indeed, Rousey has a pretty approachable persona. See the story of the kid who successfully asked her to the Marine Ball. The person who inspires that person is something of a surprise though. “People are drawn to [Mike Tyson] because of his authenticity and so I try to be as authentic as I can,” she said, in explaining her admiration for the puncher-turned-punchline. “I’m not doing something for the cameras. I’m not trying to be someone I’m not. I guess the best way to say it is that I’m a more exaggerated version of myself.”
