Ronda Rousey is at least six months away from returning to the cage, so it's safe to assume the former UFC champ has some pent-up aggression. Thanks to Miesha Tate, we now know one way she's letting it out: By chewing out fellow UFC fighter and current Dancing with the Stars contestant Paige VanZant.
Tate aired the dirty laundry on a recent episode of Joe Rogan's podcast. The incident, as she heard it from VanZant, took place at a Reebook shoot that both fighters attended. Tate says Rousey sought out VanZant to giver her a piece of her mind. Then this:
“I guess Ronda came up and was like, “[expletive] you, you fair-weather [expletive], how dare you cross me. [VanZant was] like, ‘Cross you, what are you talking about?’ And [Rousey is] like, ‘You congratulated Holly Holm for beating me, so [expletive] you, you fair-weather, 115-pound…' "
Now, it's worth reiterating that those words are Tate's version of a story VanZant told her. So, you know, we could be dealing with a case of telephone here. Still, we know the broad strokes are true becuase VanZant said as much to TMZ. "It appears that I offended Ronda by congratulating Holly after her victory. The incident was very shocking and totally unnecessary," she told the site in a statement.
We haven't heard anything from Rousey confirming or denying the incident, but do we really need to? It's pretty easy to imagine her flipping out like this, even if it was over something as small as a congratulatory tweet. The only shame is that VanZant and Rousey fight in different weight classes so we won't be able to see them settle this dispute in the Octagon.
