Ronda Rousey Just Announced Her Tentative Retirement Date

It’s sooner than you might think.

Bad news guys: Ronda Rousey isn’t going to be around forever. She will age, her skills will deteriorate and her interest in pounding faces will someday wane. Turns out, that day might be here a lot sooner than anyone expected: Rousey may hang up her fists in the next three years.

Monday, UFC superstar Rousey appeared on Joe Rogan’s MMA podcast and talked about, among other things, when she plans to end her fighting career. “I’m not going to be doing this in my 30s. I don’t want to be fighting in my 30s,” said said. “By 30s, I mean like 31, 32. If you’re actually 30 years old that’s 30, not 30s. Once you add the one, that’s 30s, plural.”

If you didn’t know, Rousey is 28 and six months old. And even though it’s pretty clear she’s wrong about when one’s 30s start, by her calculations her tentative retirement date is two and half years away

That’s only 913 days! It’s not very many from a fan perspective, but it’s an eternity for a professional athlete, especially when you’re subjecting yourself to stuff like this every day.  Still, a lot could change in that time. Maybe Rousey will keep on slugging into her 30s, maybe she won’t. Whatever she’s doing at 31 and 32 and 33 though, one thing is certain—we’ll all be watching.
