The modus operandi of Japanese horror staples Sadako (The Ring) and Kayako (The Grudge) are so eerily similar—both are long-haired ghost girls killed in unspeakable tragedies, exacting their revenge from beyond the grave—that their paths were bound to cross.

The new J-horror flick Sadako vs. Kayako sees the iconic horror characters battling it out, kinda how Freddy and Jason did back in 2003. Or maybe they’ll join forces to wreak the ultimate terror over unsuspecting Japanese school girls (you’ll have to watch to find out).

Sadako vs. Kayako will be released on horror-streaming service Shudder in the U.S., U.K. and Canada on January 26.
