It was inevitable. Like The Flintstones and The Jetsonsbefore them, The Simpsons and Family Guy are going to have a crossover episode airing next year. On the episode, titled “The Simpsons Guy,” pudgy Family Guy patriarch Peter Griffin will bring his family to The Simpsons hometown of Springfield. While there, we hear, Stewie will develop an “unhealthy affinity” for Bart, and Homer and Peter will argue over whose town’s beer is superior: Springfield’s Duff or Quahog’s Pawtucket Patriot Ale. Though the shows have taken shots at each other over the years, it seems that the twin backbones of FOX’s Sunday night “Animation Domination” block have decided to call a truce. Still a target, though, is the network. In a statement about the episode, Peter says, “FOX hasn’t spent this much money since they took Simon Cowell tight T-shirt shopping.” D’oh!
