Right on the heels of a 100-86 walloping of the Nets, Spike Lee celebrates some Knicks’ history in a new NBA commercial. The ad is set to air on Christmas Day, but here at Maxim we got the EXCLUSIVE (that’s in like a big, echo-y voice).
In the spot, Spike recalls a 1984 Christmas Day game against the Nets in which Bernard King drops 60 points on the boys from dirty Jerz. The King lit up the court so hard that Nets’ coach Stan Albeck had 6’11” George Johnson guard King in the second half.
Spike alludes to Carmelo picking up the crown, but as he says, “You never know who’s going to wear the crown next.” We’re looking at you, Pablo Prigioni – it’s never too late. Just change your shoes.
