Ronda Rousey Used to Beat Up Dudes in Street Fights for Coffee Money

Ever gotten your ass kicked by a 14-year-old girl?

As a 14-year-old girl with little spending money and an intense addiction to Starbucks, Ronda Rousey devised a brilliant hustle to get her Frappuccinos for free. She beat up dudes on the street. Here are the details, as she recently relayed them to Sports Illustrated.

“Me and my friend Jackie, after school, we would walk over to the Promenade, and Jackie was like my Paul Heyman. She would be like, ‘I bet my girl right here could beat you up for $10.’ And then some guy would be like, ‘Ehhh, whatever. I’ll take that bet.”

“I would throw him to the ground, either give him a choke or an arm bar. We would get him to say he gave up, then take his money and go buy Frappuccinos.”

Is anyone really surprised? Even at 28, Rousey is a hustler. She has to be. You don’t get to be the biggest star in a sport dominated by men without committing to the grind.

And before you shake your head in disbelief at the notion of a 14-year-old dominating random dudes in a street fight, remember where Rousey came from. Her mom was a Judo expert and, at 14, Rousey was only a few years away from winning an Olympic medal. So it’s pretty easy to imagine her getting Guy Fieri-looking bros in Santa Montica to tap out with an armbar then strolling to Starbucks for a celebratory Frapp.

The only thing missing from this story is video confirmation. If anyone out there recorded their uncle getting his ass kicked by a teenage girl in 2001, give it another look. It might be worth some money.
