Throwback Thursday: September 1999 – Pamela Anderson

Check out what we were up to in September of ’99. Don’t worry, we’ll leave out our middle school class picture.

Every week, we send someone stumbling into the dark Maxim archives to see what we were up to way back when. This week we’re going back to September of 1999, when Pam Anderson was a V.I.P., Michael Strahan was terrifying, and the pullover fleece was king.

Cover Girl: Pamela Anderson

Where You’ve Seen Her: The former Baywatch super-babe and original (“What time is it?”) Tool Time girl cut her teeth as a fitness instructor, but rose to blonde bombshell dominance when a certain private tape that we most certainly haven’t seen was leaked to the public.

Where She Is Now: Well into her mid-forties, Pam is as easy on the eyes as she’s ever been. She’s been doing animal rights work that tends to leave her in various states of undress – one of which was too spicy for those conservative Canadians. She also competed in Dancing on Ice, a British show centered around ice dancing – a skill of hers we’ve yet to see stateside.

Featuring:

The Highest in High Fashion

They say the classics never go out of style, which explains why these duds look as dated as a Vlade Divac poster. The guy on the left is bordering on cocky, and why wouldn’t he? He’s wearing a GIANT collared pullover fleece with the flip-up pocket – Starter jacket style. The gal all the way on the right really steals the Spirit of the ’90s Award, with a shag carpet duster (a la Fight Club’s Helena Bonham Carter) with nothing on under it – the ultimate juxtaposition of hot and cold!

Michael Strahan:

We caught up with the New York Giants’ Michael Strahan (by “caught up” we mean talked to almost 15 years ago), and boy were we scared. That is, until we realized that this guy boasting about how much pleasure he gets from his opponent’s pain is the same charming, gap-toothed sidekick to Kelly Ripa who is now on the daytime tube talking about the latest teeth-whitening strategies.
