No matter how many arguments are had on the subject, we'll never be able to definitively say which video game has the coolest set of guns. Neither Doom's BFG or the Portal gun are clear-cut winners, because each has their own individual strengths and weaknesses. We'll just never know.
That's why viral YouTube video creators Corridor Digital took matters into their own hands in an attempt to see which guns ended up "performing" the best in a simulated first-person shooter environment. The result, The Ultimate Gun Game has 'em all — and we wish we could read it right now.
From Link's Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda to Mega Man's Mega Buster, every concievable video game weapon was put through a simulated wringer to see how effectively they could take out enemies. The video was put together with some very impressive effects — especially the up-close look at weapons like the Lancer from Gears of War as it tears into a (rightfully) terrified participant in the Gun Game — and it almost resembles a free-for-all in popular first-person shooters like Battlefield: Bad Company.
Cycling through a bevy of familiar weapons in the game is awesome, bloody fun, and we totally wish it were a standard feature in upcoming shooters.
