A snowbound mystery starring Jeremy Renner as a solitary hunter and Elizabeth Olsen as an FBI agent investigating a strange homicide, Wind River already has some pretty good buzz. A critic for RogerEbert.com saw the movie at Sundance and wrote that it is an "engaging thriller, anchored by a strong sense of place. . . and a great performance from Jeremy Renner."
It's the story of Olsen's green FBI agent, who is sent into the wilds of a wintry Native American Reservation, charged with solving the murder of a local girl who was found dead in a snowy field. She has to team with Renner's character, who is a hunter with sniper-level skills who says he specializes in "hunting predators."
In perhaps one of the trailer's most telling moments, Olsen asks if he can help her track a predator as well.
This preview does a brilliant job of setting a gravely creepy mood reminiscent of the Coen brothers at their noir best.
Wind River as directed by Taylor Sheridan and also features Gil Birmingham, Jon Bernthal, Julia Jones, Kelsey Asbille, and James Jordan.
The movie premieres nationwide on August 4, 2017, but we have the feeling you might want to bring your big winter coat anyway.
