WATCH: Chris Cornell Covers Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U”
The Soundgarden frontman’s take is definitely worth a listen.
This has certainly been a week of musicians covering other musicians’ songs. Ryan Adams kicked it off with his revamping of Taylor Swift’s entire 1989 album, then Father John Misty (aka, Josh Tillman) sauntered up from the back of the classroom (thematically) tweeting “what a dumb world” from his personal Twitter, then dropping tongue in cheek covers of Ryan Adams’ T-Swift covers, but in the style of Velvet Underground. Now here comes Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell, who’s just doing his thing, covering Sinead O’Connor’s biggest hit (first performed by Prince) on Sirius FM, and not trying to cause any trouble. You do you, Chris.
Chris Cornell’s solo album, Higher Truth, came out on September 18.
