What We’re Watching Today: We’re Finally Finding Out What the The Slap Is

Plus Amy Schumer, A$AP Rocky, and Matt Groening on Portlandia.

We’ve got an eclectic mix this Thursday.

What We’re Watching Now

The trailer for Judd Apatow’s Trainwreck, starring Amy Schumer, still has us laughing this morning. It’s also notable as LeBron James’ acting debut, the inner mechanisms of which were closely examined here

What We’re Watching Later When We’re Bored

A$AP Rocky’s new video for “Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2” is about as trippy as you’d expect. And it makes hanging out in a laundromat look way more fun than it actually is.

What We’re Watching Tonight

The commercials for The Slap, NBC’s new miniseries (based on an Australian miniseries that’s based on a book) were immediately ripe for parody, but we’ll admit that they piqued our curiosity. The story focuses on the dramatic unraveling of a family and community after a man slaps someone else’s child at a barbecue. The powerhouse cast (Uma Thurman, Thandi Newton, Peter Sarsgaard, and Zachary Quinto) makes a compelling case to check it out.

There’s also a new Portlandia guest-starring Simpsons creator Matt Groening, who takes Spyke to court for selling unlicensed Simpsons merchandise. The clip below promises it’ll get weird.
