What’s Grand Canyon Tightrope Walker Nik Wallenda’s Next Stop? New York City!

Even though we already got a glimpse into his, er,unique mind, we were still shocked to see daredevil Nik Wallenda go through with crossing the Grand Canyon at over 1,500 feet on a two-inch-wide tightrope last night. Thanking God with almost every step, Wallenda accomplished the feat in about 22 minutes, as rough winds shook both him and the rope.
Afterwards, the seventh-generation member of the legendary Flying Wallenda Family reflected on his accomplishment: “The Grand Canyon was a place I visited as a kid. For as long as I can remember, it has been a dream of mine to cross over such a spectacular setting.” So what will his next challenge be? Turns out, it may be the Big Apple! Word is the 34-year-old wants to walk between the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building, a distance of over 4,000 feet (more than triple the length of his Grand Canyon stunt). What will it be like for him to concentrate in the midst of honking taxis, confused tourists, and the ever-present smell of urine? All we know is, we’ll be watching!
