Whitney Miller is often referred to as a former Miss USA for a very simple reason, in 2012 she was Miss USA. But when headlines, like the one above, scream about a beauty queen turned combat sports aficionado, it tends to conjure an image of a dainty prima donna who gingerly ventured into fighting.

That’s not Miller, who was an athlete long before she joined the weird world of beauty pageants. So when she took up Brazilian jiu-jitsu in 2014 it was the natural progression of her interest in sports, not a turn away from her life as a beauty queen.

The latest step in her life as an athlete came Thursday night, when Miller made her amateur fight debut and won.

The two-fisted beauty has said in the past that she may one day even give MMA a try.  “I want to go in there and I want to know if I really want to do this,” she told MMA Junkie in 2014.

Two-and-a-half years later, she’s finally made her amateur boxing debut. At this pace she’ll be ready to join the UFC in 2035, just in time for Ronda Rousey’s return.
