Woody Harrelson has some excellent acting chops. Sure, he played the more sarcastic and sometimes laugh-out-loud funny investigator in True Detective, but generally speaking, Woody's been mostly focusing on drama for a while. Today Fox Searchlight posted a red band trailer for his upcoming film Wilson, and in it we get to see a Woody we kind of missed—the hilarious comic actor.
Wilson, according to the studio, is the story of "a lonely and neurotic middle-aged misanthrope who reunites with his estranged wife and gets a shot at happiness when he learns he has a teenage daughter. In his unique and slightly twisted way, he sets out to connect with her." He does this, as seen in the trailer, along with his ex, the girl's likely mom, played by Laura Dern.
Along the way, it looks like the title character gets a full range of experiences, from chatting up annoyed fellow passengers on a train to heartfelt jailhouse conversations that end with a tray to the face.
Woody is our kind of actor, and it looks like Wilson might be the perfect vehicle to remind us just how funny he really is.
Wilson is in theaters on March 24, 2017.
